TULSA, Okla. — About 150 to 200 patients of a Tulsa oral surgeon who's accused of unsanitary practices are lined up outside a health clinic to be screened for hepatitis and the virus that causes AIDS.
The line Saturday wrapped around the front of the large building north of downtown that houses Tulsa Health Department North Regional Health and Wellness Center.
Oklahoma officials say 7,000 patients of Dr. W. Scott Harrington in the past six years will receive letters that warn poor hygiene at Harrington's two clinics created a public health hazard.
The patients are being urged to be screened for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.
Harrington's practice was inspected after officials determined a patient may have contracted hepatitis C while having dental surgery. He had clinics in Tulsa and suburban Owasso.
